Specific Research Endeavors

My research interests include environmental policy-making and spatial justice with a particular emphasis on how geographic information and communication technologies (GICTs) mediate collective action and contentious land use decisions.  Previous projects have explored: the optimal placement of urban stormwater best management practices; the cumulative impact of air pollution within environmental justice communities; and metropolitan employment accessibility.  Two of my present research directions include: analyzing the social determinants of environmental behavior, especially as this behavior contributes to the generation of greenhouse gas emissions and examining the potential for GICTs to facilitate environmental activism and collaborative planning.
