Entirely
renovated in 2000, the Meteorology Lab directly supports the Department of Geography's
Program leading to a Bachelor of Science in Meteorology. The lab consists of
PC's configured to access internet-based weather data and allow for instruction
using CD-based multimedia modules. These meteorological training modules, developed
by the University Corporation for Atmospheric Research, are used throughout
the private sector and National Weather Service for further training and understanding
of atmospheric processes. The Meteorology Laboratory contains a library of available
modules.
Additionally, there is
also connectivity available to faculty research workstations configured to
run the Automated Weather Information Processing System (AWIPS) suite of programs
in the UNIX environment for examining case studies and climatology development.
Finally, the lab is also
equipped with cable television and direct access to The Weather Channel.
