GEOG 202: World Regional Geography (3)

This course focuses on distinctive landscapes and culture attributes of different world regions as well as the interconnectivity of world regions. This course begins with an introduction to basic geographic concepts, the changing pictures of world regions in a global context, and the foundations of world regions. Then it explores the major world regions through their physical and environmental attributes, their positions in the world-system, and their cultural, political, and economic characteristics.

GEOG 498M Methodology and Techniques/Geog 560 Advanced Spatial Analysis (1-3)

This course is an upper-level undergraduate to graduate-level course that covers a number of spatial analysis techniques, including explorative spatial data analysis, global and local analyses of spatial data, spatial regression, point pattern analysis, and surface trend analysis. This course provides students with a variety of the applications of spatial data analysis. The course aims to help students understand the key concepts and principles in spatial data analysis, develop spatial data manipulation and analysis skills, and gain hands-on experience through the use of Geoda, CrimeStat, and ArcGIS Geostatistical Analyst and Spatial Analyst extensions.
